This past spring, Cornerstone held a Ministry Summit where all our ministry leaders gathered together to seek the Lord’s direction for the coming year. It was there that the Lord gave us the sense that He would have us emphasize evangelism training for our ministry volunteers. We felt this was especially important for our ministry since the people we are called to minister to are sometimes in a life-threatening health crisis. So, being able to initiate a gospel conversation before someone slips into a coma, for example, is very important.

We proceeded with the Way of the Master Basic Training Course in Evangelism over the summer, and were joined by representatives from Cornerstone’s Time to Heal, Cancer Support, and New Commandment ministries, as well. Wow, what a blessing! We learned some wonderfully effective ways to share the gospel together, laughing and crying our way through the course. Then we put it all into practice in our personal evangelism opportunities, in team situations on what we call our “Fishing Trips,” and in sensitive visitation settings.

Since that time, we have had an increasing number of requests to visit people who are struggling with various issues, in addition to being unsaved. We are so grateful that the Lord led us to focus on evangelism training earlier this year, so that we would be more equipped to lead these hurting people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ----the greatest need of all.

If you, or someone you know, is going through a difficult time as a result of illness, isolation, or loss, please reach out to us by submitting your visitation request in one of three ways; 1) Directly to the church office at (562) 296-6490, 2) Through the CARE Ministry link on our church website (cclb.org), or 3) By checking “Visitation Ministry” on your coral connection card from the church bulletin.

We are currently looking for new volunteers. If you feel this is an area you might want to serve in, please email Billie Munn or Susan Koenig for more information.
